Dakar Rally 2027 to start in Portugal and finish in Morocco

The Dakar Rally will run from Loulé-Faro in Portugal to Marrakech in Morocco between January 9 and 23, 2027, organisers announced.[4] Administrative and technical scrutineering will take place in Loulé-Faro from January 6 to 8.[4] The event was moved away from Saudi Arabia, which organisers described as an exceptional and one-off decision, according to Al Jazeera.[1]

Crash.net reported that the original Saudi Arabia event was cancelled.[3] RacingNews365 reported that the move had been speculated for some time before being made official.[6] The announcement came just over two months before the start of the event, according to Motorsport.com and Autosport.[2, 5]
