Jio shares surge 21% in India's biggest IPO
Shares of Jio Platforms rose 21% in their first day of trading after India's biggest IPO, which raised $3.2 billion at a $108 billion valuation.[5, 6] Jio debuted as India's second-most valuable listed company, behind its parent, Reliance Industries.[6] Bloomberg reported that the debut helped Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries topple Tata Group as India's largest conglomerate by market value.[2]
The Financial Times described the listing as relief to a stock market hit by war in Iran.[5] The New York Times reported that questions are mounting about the telecom firm's growth prospects and that a new generation is taking charge.[1]
