Oil prices post sharpest drop since July on Iran diplomacy hopes
Oil prices fell Monday, with NBC News reporting the sharpest drop in three months, as investors saw hope the U.S. would end the Iran war without further escalation.[5] CNBC reported the decline came amid news that both the U.S. and Iran are pursuing diplomacy.[3] UPI reported that a draft of a peace agreement circulated as the Trump administration discusses a peaceful resolution to the war with Iran.[7]
The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran's foreign minister said discussions with Qatari mediators over a proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz were continuing but had not produced an agreement.[9] Semafor reported that President Donald Trump has reportedly pushed for more negotiations with Iran.[11] The American Conservative reported that Iran struck two more tankers in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, according to UKMTO.[8]
