Record king tides flood homes in South Florida and California
Historic king tides have sent seawater into towns on the South Florida and California coasts, flooding homes and triggering water rescues, according to ABC News.[2] ABC News reported some of the highest tides ever recorded in the two regions.[2] In California, record-breaking water levels submerged streets, homes and businesses in low-lying communities from San Diego to the San Francisco Bay Area, The Guardian reported.[1]
The Guardian described California's weather as 'well into extreme territory' this week.[1] CBS News reported that the extreme tides, known as 'King Tides,' are slamming the Southern California coast.[3]
Why it matters Water rescues were triggered as seawater flooded homes in low-lying communities.[1, 2]
