Iran says it could reopen Strait of Hormuz within two days

Iran said Monday it had a two-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume nuclear talks with the United States, shortening a process originally expected to take seven days. Tehran set conditions including lifting a blockade of Iranian ports.[5, 6] Indirect talks in Doha ran into a third day on Sunday, with Qatar trying to negotiate the release of $6bn in Iranian assets, according to The Guardian.[1] The Los Angeles Times reported that Iran's delegation has left Qatar and that Iran says it is awaiting the latest U.S. response.[6]

The latest proposal Iran has publicly discussed would fully reopen the strait to shipping within two days if Washington meets several conditions, including lifting its blockade of Iranian ports, according to the Los Angeles Times; International Business Times reported Tehran reiterated seven conditions.[3, 6] Iranian officials spoke of some progress in negotiating to reopen the strait, a vital oil and gas shipping lane, even as they prepare for all-out war, according to The New York Times.[2]
