Tech companies turn to religion for guidance on AI morality
Tech companies racing to build powerful artificial intelligence are turning to religion for guidance on teaching AI right from wrong.[1, 2] Executives are seeking input from various faith leaders, acknowledging that moral questions about AI cannot be answered in labs alone.[1]
Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah spoke earlier this year at the Vatican's presentation of Pope Leo XIV's encyclical on AI, saying such questions are ones religious traditions have carried for millennia.[2] Some experts say the answer is not that simple.[1]
