Alaska Senate race roiled by decoy candidate with same name as Dan Sullivan
A man named Dan J. Sullivan is running as a candidate against Alaska's incumbent Republican Sen. Dan S. Sullivan, and the race is drawing scrutiny over the identical names.[4] The New York Times reported that Democratic Party operatives helped to add Dan J. Sullivan to the ballot as a spoiler, according to RealClearPolitics.[4]
An FEC complaint alleges the decoy's campaign illegally colluded with a dark-money group that ran ads against Sen. Dan Sullivan, as Conservative Review and The Federalist report.[3, 5] Sen. Dan Sullivan said in June that a Democrat-manufactured plot was underway to confuse voters with a same-name candidate, months before concrete action was taken, Breitbart reported.[2]
