Anthropic files for IPO that could be the biggest ever
Anthropic filed with the SEC on Monday for an IPO that may raise a record $100 billion. Its filing warns its AI safety measures may not prevent catastrophic risks, and bankers reportedly value the company at up to $2 trillion.[5, 13, 44] Bloomberg reported that Anthropic tapped JPMorgan Chase to lead US sales of shares to individual investors.[6] In a cover letter accompanying the filing, Anthropic pledged that its Claude chatbot will never show ads.[40]
Why it matters The filing shows obligations the company cannot meet without raising more cash.[38]
