Poll shows South Carolina Senate race tied at 48 percent
A New York Times/Siena poll released Wednesday has Republican Sen. Darline Graham and Democrat Annie Andrews deadlocked at 48 percent among likely voters. Graham was appointed in July after the death of her brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham.[8, 9] Graham, a Republican, was appointed to the Senate in July after the death of her brother, the late Sen. Lindsey Graham.[5, 9] The New York Times reported that Graham is struggling to replicate her late brother's success in the heavily Republican state.[5]
New York Magazine reported that the poll shows the candidates dead even despite what it described as Trump's rescue effort in the race.[2] South Carolina last elected a Democratic senator in 1998, when it backed Fritz Hollings, according to The Daily Beast.[3]
