UK PM Burnham calls for debate on returning to EU free movement
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham said he wants to discuss a return to EU freedom of movement, calling for an "honest discussion" about how immigration to the UK has changed since Brexit.[3] Housing Secretary Angela Rayner backed the call, describing it as "pragmatism" and an "honest conversation" about Britain's future relationship with the bloc.[1, 2]
Rayner denied that Burnham is reopening the Brexit debate by reconsidering a manifesto pledge to rule out freedom of movement with the EU.[2] The Guardian reported that the comments risk causing concern among some red wall MPs.[1]
