Chris Brown given suspended eight-month sentence over London nightclub bottle attack
Singer Chris Brown was given a suspended eight-month prison sentence in a London court over a 2023 nightclub attack in Mayfair.[2, 8, 9 +1] The sentence is suspended for 12 months, meaning Brown avoids prison time.[2, 8, 12] Brown, 37, had pleaded guilty to affray after striking music producer Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle on the dancefloor at the Tape club.[2, 3, 11]
Prosecutors said he struck Diaw twice in the head with the bottle.[2, 11] His vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu, also pleaded guilty, and affray carries a maximum three-year prison sentence.[11] Earlier reports described Brown arriving at court Monday for sentencing after pleading guilty earlier this year.[3, 5, 13]
