WNBA Finals Game 6 set for Thursday 12:30 p.m. ET tipoff
WNBA Finals Game 6 between the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries will tip off Thursday at 12:30 p.m. ET.[5, 7, 8] The game was moved to State Farm Arena because the Dream's normal home, Gateway Center Arena, is smaller, and the Atlanta Hawks have an NBA game the same day.[3, 9]
In an open letter to the city, the Dream said their concerns about finding a suitable venue went unheeded and that the midday start was "not what we fought for."[3, 9, 11] Either the Valkyries will win a championship in their second year of existence, or the Dream will force the first Game 7 in league history.[10]
Why it matters A Valkyries win Thursday would give Golden State a WNBA championship in just its second year of existence, while a Dream win would force the first Game 7 in league history.[10]
