Lawsuit seeks to block ICE from hiding detainee locations
Legal groups that provide services to immigrants filed a lawsuit Wednesday seeking to stop ICE from hiding the locations of detainees with final deportation orders.[1, 2] The suit was filed in federal court in Boston against the Trump administration's policy.[3] The lawsuit argues the policy interferes with immigration lawyers' rights by making it difficult, and sometimes impossible, to locate their clients.[3]
Why it matters The policy affects tens of thousands of detainees with final deportation orders whose locations immigration lawyers say they can no longer determine.[2, 3]
