Trump says he'd pick Ted Cruz for Supreme Court if a seat opens
President Trump said at a rally in Lubbock, Texas, on Tuesday that he would nominate Sen. Ted Cruz to the Supreme Court if a vacancy opens.[2, 7, 8] Trump joked Cruz would be confirmed unanimously because senators in both parties would want to get rid of him in Congress.[1, 2, 3] Mediaite reported Trump said he would get '100%' of senators' votes.[1]
Trump has previously mentioned Cruz as a potential Supreme Court nominee, according to Yahoo News and The Daily Wire.[3, 7] The rally came ahead of the midterm elections, and Cruz is a third-term senator.[3, 5]
