Meta settles social media addiction lawsuit before trial
Meta settled a social media addiction lawsuit brought by an 18-year-old Mississippi woman, avoiding a trial set for next week.[1] The Hill reported the settlement was reached Friday as jury selection began this week.[2] The plaintiff, dubbed "K.D.B.," alleged her use of Instagram and Snapchat as a child worsened her mental health and contributed to her eating disorder.[2]
The New York Times reported the case was the fourth of nine bellwether personal injury lawsuits.[1] The New York Post reported Meta had settled with another teen plaintiff days before the trial.[3]
