Judge dismisses Trump's $10 billion lawsuit against Wall Street Journal
A federal judge on Saturday dismissed President Donald Trump's $10 billion defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal and Rupert Murdoch over the paper's reporting on a birthday letter Trump allegedly sent Jeffrey Epstein.[5, 8, 9 +1] U.S. District Judge Darrin Gayles in Miami dismissed the suit with prejudice, according to a court filing.[10, 15, 18] It was Trump's second attempt this year to sue the paper over the story, and the suit concerned an article about a birthday note to Epstein sent more than two decades ago.[6, 8, 13]
Why it matters The dismissal was with prejudice, meaning the $10 billion lawsuit cannot be filed again.[9, 10, 18]
