US pushes plan to resume Russian gas sales to Europe via Ukraine
The Trump administration is promoting a plan for Russia to resume natural gas sales to Europe through pipelines running through Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reported.[2, 4, 5] IJR reported the plan would use a US intermediary and potentially escrowed proceeds to encourage an energy ceasefire between Moscow and Kyiv.[4]
The Wall Street Journal reported the idea faces resistance in European capitals.[5] IJR reported the proposal conflicts with the EU's policy of phasing out Russian gas.[4]
