Prosecutor says Russell Brand accusers had nothing to gain
A prosecutor told a court that six women accusing Russell Brand had come forward with nothing to gain apart from some closure.[1, 2] The prosecutor, Riel Karmy-Jones KC, said the women had been "haunted" for years by their alleged encounters with Brand.[1, 2] She said the women do not know each other and had not been compelled to come forward, according to The Guardian.[1]
The Guardian reported she said the women had "bravely" come forward after realising they were not alone and had no appetite for fame.[1] The remarks came in a closing speech at Brand's trial.[1]
