Alpine and Colapinto's management respond to Jeremy Clarkson's nationality joke
Alpine released a statement in support of Colapinto and distanced itself from the comments, which were made while Clarkson was appearing as a guest of the team in Austin.[3, 5] Jeremy Clarkson joked on Sky Sports F1 during the United States Grand Prix weekend that Alpine driver Franco Colapinto had been given a grid penalty "for being Argentinian".[2, 5]
Colapinto's management team also issued a statement, with the remark described as "unacceptable".[7] Clarkson has supported Alpine, the Enstone outfit, for several years as his local team and spent the race weekend with it.[5]
