Trump agrees to visa for mother of Bronx teen killed in shooting
President Donald Trump agreed to grant a visa to the Ghanaian mother of a 15-year-old Bronx boy who was shot and killed on his way to school Thursday, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Saturday.[1, 2, 3 +1] Mamdani said the approval came after a phone call with Trump.[3] The teen was identified as Javits Frimpong, who was shot in the abdomen in a Bronx neighborhood shortly before 9:30 a.m. Thursday while on his way to school, according to HuffPost.[1]
The Washington Examiner reported that Frimpong moved from Ghana to live with his father roughly a year ago.[7] The visa will allow his mother to travel from Ghana to New York City to mourn her son in person, Mamdani said.[5]
