Same-day voter registration available in many states
Registration deadlines vary by state, and in some states eligible voters can register and vote on the same day, including on Election Day, The Political Insider reported.[2] The Washington Examiner reported that all states except North Dakota require voters to register before voting, but a significant number allow same-day registration.[3] Citing Ballotpedia, the Washington Examiner said 21 states offer same-day registration with little or no waiting period.[3]
Why it matters Eligible voters who missed their state's registration deadline can still register and vote on the same day in states that allow it.[1, 2, 4]
