Mercedes fined after Russell skips media duties at Mexican GP
George Russell skipped his post-race media duties after the Mexico City Grand Prix, and stewards fined Mercedes as a result.[23, 25] Mercedes said a deployment issue spoiled Russell's start; he had started second after missing pole to Lewis Hamilton by 0.009 seconds, and he later received a 10-second penalty for a first-lap incident.[16]
Team principal Toto Wolff apologised to Russell, saying the team had "let him down", and described his driver as suffering a "catastrophic moment".[12, 16] Russell's teammate Kimi Antonelli celebrated winning the world championship at the same race.[12, 29]
