Trump revives Iowa and Kansas rallies after canceling them
President Trump reversed course and will attend midterm rallies in Iowa and Kansas on Sunday, hours after the White House announced the events were canceled.[4, 19, 28] CBS News reported Trump is holding the previously canceled rallies in the battleground states during the final weekend before Tuesday's midterms.[19] The Hill reported Trump announced the reversal a day after his last-minute decision to cancel rallies in battleground states.[28]
Trump is also skipping in-person campaigning for virtual rallies, including for the Texas Senate race between Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico.[16, 26, 39] NewsNation reported Talarico held a Houston event while Paxton campaigned in Fort Worth as early voting nears its conclusion.[49]
PBS NewsHour reported early balloting totals were approaching 50 million heading into the weekend, compared with about 112 million total votes in the 2022 midterms.[26] Breitbart reported that Talarico's private polling shows his race against Paxton closer than public surveys that have given him a lead.[33]
