Ceasefire in Russian-occupied Ukrainian city holds for first day
A planned six-day ceasefire in the Russian-occupied southern Ukrainian city of Oleshky held for its first day and night, officials said Wednesday.[1, 2] The truce began Tuesday and is due to last through Sunday.[3]
A humanitarian operation is racing to deliver urgently needed food and medicine to about 2,000 remaining residents and evacuate those who want to leave, the Los Angeles Times reported.[3] The Washington Times reported that Moscow and Kyiv battered each other elsewhere as they awaited a date for the next round of U.S.-brokered talks.[2]
