OpenAI announces discoveries in math, computer science and physics
OpenAI announced three discoveries in mathematics, computer science and physics, which it described as major.[3, 9] The Verge reported that external experts OpenAI calls "shepherds" are guiding the results, a new way of working with academics.[9]
The announcement came less than a month after OpenAI released hundreds of manuscripts it said contained solutions to long-standing mathematics questions.[9] Al Jazeera described the announcement as the latest in a series of claimed scientific breakthroughs credited to AI.[3]
