Nikita Kucherov requests trade from Lightning
Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov has requested a trade and told the club he does not plan to re-sign, according to multiple reports.[2, 3, 6 +1] ESPN reported the 33-year-old forward is in the final year of an eight-year, $76 million contract and confirmed an earlier report on Friday night.[6] Fox News reported Kucherov also told teammates he will not re-sign after this season.[2]
ESPN noted Kucherov led the Lightning to two Stanley Cup titles.[6] The reasons for his decision remain unclear, according to IJR.[3]
