Russell says difficult F1 season will not define his career
Mercedes driver George Russell says his difficult 2026 Formula One season will not define his career, saying "it's not going to break me, if anything it's going to make me stronger."[1, 2, 5] Russell arrives in Mexico City second in the drivers' standings, 123 points behind his 20-year-old teammate Kimi Antonelli, who can take his first championship title this weekend.[4] Russell won the season opener in Australia but has since been out-driven by Antonelli.[1, 4]
He believes tyre pressures and a less "efficient" driving style this year have hurt his performance relative to his teammate.[6] The 28-year-old Briton says he still has "a good 12 to 15 years" left in the championship and is confident he can win the title during his career.[1, 4]
