Paxton and Talarico make final pitches in Texas Senate race

Ken Paxton and James Talarico are making their closing arguments in the Texas Senate race days before the November 3 midterm elections.[4, 5, 7] Talarico, a Democrat, held an event in Houston, while Paxton, the state's attorney general, campaigned in Fort Worth.[7] President Donald Trump is campaigning by virtual rally instead of appearing in person.[2, 6]

In an interview on Breitbart News Saturday, Paxton called the race against Talarico the most difficult campaign of his political career and warned that Republicans cannot take victory in Texas for granted.[5] The New York Times reported that Talarico has led in polls but remains the underdog because it is Texas.[1]

Early voting is nearing its conclusion in several states, with early balloting totals approaching 50 million nationally heading into the weekend; about 112 million voted in total in the 2022 midterms.[3] In Texas, early votes have topped 6.7 million, according to NewsNation.[7]
