Bears acquire All-Pro tackle Jeffery Simmons from Titans in trade
The Chicago Bears have acquired All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons in a trade with the Tennessee Titans, a person familiar with the deal told the Associated Press.[1] The Bears are sending two first-round draft picks and a fourth-rounder to the Titans for the 29-year-old, who is a two-time All Pro, according to the New York Post.[6] UPI reported that sources said the Bears agreed to the trade on Thursday, and that Simmons is signed through 2030.[4]
The Guardian reported the picks are Chicago's first-rounders in 2027 and 2028 along with a fourth-rounder in next year's draft.[1] Newsweek described the deal as a blockbuster move as Chicago eyes a Super Bowl run.[2] The Athletic graded the trade harshly for Chicago, writing that anything short of winning the Lombardi Trophy makes it a big overpay.[11]
