The Wall Street Journal reported that police believe the intelligence service Abdulkarim assisted was Iran's.[11] The Hill reported that the UK has blamed the incident, which it says happened last month, on Iran.[7] Sky News reported that in court, the hearing was told the suspects were coordinated by a handler known as 'Ali'.[17]
