Democrats demand records of Trump's AI chatbot use
Reps. Jamie Raskin and Robert Garcia, the top Democrats on the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees, wrote a five-page letter to President Trump on Wednesday demanding he preserve his conversations with AI chatbots, including Elon Musk's Grok.[1, 4, 5] The letter also asked for a briefing on the president's use of the chatbots, according to Raw Story.[3] A Time report earlier this month cited an insider who said Trump consulted Grok before launching a military operation in Venezuela.[4]
The New Republic reported that Trump has spent hours running major political decisions, including the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, past AI chatbots.[5] Daily Kos described the move as an inquiry into why Grok was reportedly used by the White House.[2]
Why it matters Raskin and Garcia have asked for a briefing from the White House on Trump's chatbot use.[3]
