OpenAI cuts funding target by $10 billion
OpenAI has lowered the amount it is seeking in its latest fundraising round by $10 billion, according to a Financial Times report.[5, 8] The company is now seeking about $20 billion at a $1.25 trillion valuation, down from an initial target of $30 billion at a $1.4 trillion valuation.[3, 5, 8]
The Wall Street Journal reported the round values OpenAI at $1.25 trillion, less than its $1.4 trillion target, and that the company raised less than half of its $30 billion goal.[4] The Financial Times reported SoftBank's stake shrank by $10 billion as commitments fell due Oct. 30.[3]
