North Korea fires missile barrage toward the sea
North Korea fired a barrage of ballistic missiles toward the sea separating Korea and Japan on Thursday, South Korea's military said.[2, 5, 11] UPI reported that South Korea's military counted more than 10 missiles, including short-range ballistic missiles.[5] The launch comes amid tensions over a landmine blast last month that injured three South Korean soldiers, which Seoul blames on Pyongyang.[4, 7, 10]
North Korea denies the accusation about the landmine explosion, according to Al Jazeera.[10] MS NOW reported that the launches followed leader Kim Jong Un's weekend visit to China, the North's main ally and economic pipeline.[1]
